What a way to start off their first US tour in over 20 years. Pantera came to Burgettstown, Pennsylvania to give The Pavilion at Star Lake one hell of a metal show.
Before Pantera took the stage, people were walking around the venue either in line for merch or checking out the awesome memorabilia of Dimebag Darrell provided by his longtime girlfriend Rita Haney.
Surviving members of the famous line up are Philip Anselmo (vocals) and Rex Brown (bass). Longtime friends Zakk Wylde (Black Label Society/Ozzy Osbourne) and Charlie Benante (Anthrax) of drummer Vinnie Paul Abbott and lead guitarist Dimbag Darrell Abbott filled in, in their spots to complete the current line up of the band. Zack and Charlie did an awesome job. I’m sure Dimebag and Vinnie are enjoying watching down on their new band mates.
They added 2 new songs to their set list that hasn’t been played by the band in over 20 years. “Slaughtered” (Far Beyond Driven album) and “Revolution is My Name” (Reinventing the Steel album) as their encore.
Also during the night Rex Brown celebrated his 59th Birthday (July 27) as the audience sang Happy Birthday to him and was presented a birthday cake and blew out the candles.
This is not a concert to miss. You can still catch them on tour with special guests Lamb of God and S.N.A.F.U.
